1 Corinthians 1.17-18
"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel:..."
Interesting thought, baptism is an outward declaration of the inward change, but not the 'goal'.
"...not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."
Chosen people 'hear'. Another interesting thought, saved. Appears to be past tense. We're already 'saved' (chosen) when we hear the gospel.
Yet we're to liberally scatter 'seed' and not be concerned with ground conditions.
