Genesis 30-31

Laban not trustworthy. 30:34-36
Gestation period for sheep and goats?
31:38 served 20 years

--------------
Gen 30:34  And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.
Gen 30:35  And he removed that day the he goats that were ringstraked and spotted, and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted, and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
Gen 30:36  And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.

Was Jacob just hopeful?  I mean Laban had already done a bait and switch of the brides.

It doesn't seem, from the passage, that Jacob was bothered by Laban's deceit.  Was he expecting it, or had grown enough in grace, that he knew God was/would look out for him?

Sheep gestation 142-152 days - about 5 months.  Interesting article on sheep - Sheep 201 - Reproduction

Goat gestation - 150 days - about 5 months.  They live about 15 to 18 years, much longer than sheep.

Gen 31:38  This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.

7 Years for Rachael - which turned out to be Leah
7 Years for Rachael
6 Years for livestock

Jacob reached his limit, time to disengage and move on.  How hard it must have been for him...knowing Laban wasn't entirely trustworthy, always watching his back, dotting 'i's' and crossing 't's'.  I wonder did he 'feel' like he was living under a microscope?

Do you have someone in your life that you have to 'deal' with, yet isn't trustworthy?  Or is it you?  Is your yea, yea and your nay, nay?
