Leviticus 14-15

Lev_14:10  And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

Log of oil - how do you make a log of oil? Olive oil doesn't solidify, does it?

Gill's commentary:  and one log of oil; to be used as after directed: this measure was about half a pint, and is an emblem of the grace and Spirit of God, received by the saints in measure, and is the same with the oil of gladness, poured on Christ without measure, Psa_45:7.

Heh, when I read 'log' I took it literally.  When in reality it's just a unit of measurement.

While out searching I came across this site: Jewish Virtual Library, found this interesting:

"Oil was regarded as a symbol of honor (Judg. 9:9), joy (Ps. 45:8), and favor (Deut. 33:24; Ps. 23:5). Therefore, oil was to be withheld from offerings associated with disgrace, sorrow, and disfavor, just as it was withheld from the body in time of mourning (II Sam. 12:20; Dan. 10:3; see *Mourning)."

14:42 the priest takes morter and plaisters the house. First mention of home repair man. He assessed the problem, then institutes the resolution.
